Graduate Design Engineer

Independent Design House is pleased to announce that it’s actively seeking a dynamic and motivated Graduate Design Engineer to join the team in Maidstone. About the Position: 

As a Graduate Design Engineer, your primary role would be to create designs and technical drawings using CAD and analysis software. You would also be responsible for preparing scheme layout technical drawings, supporting calculations, and analysis clearly and concisely. Join our collaborative team and contribute towards developing solutions that enable our clients to understand how to safely erect and operate the equipment. 

Your Responsibilities: 

  • Utilise analysis software and CAD (2D/3D) to determine arrangements and solutions applicable to customer requirements. 
  • Conduct site visits, prepare clear and accurate site surveys, and assist in developing solutions based on this detail. 
  • Produce detailed plans, sections, elevations, notes, and details to ensure safety compliance. 
  • Work effectively and independently on multiple projects, often under tight deadlines. 
  • Familiarise yourself with industry technical documents and standards as new skills are learned. 
  • Liaise and communicate with clients to understand requirements and site-specific constraints. 
  • Carry out client liaison and coordination to address problems effectively and efficiently. 
  • Undertake the role and duties of the CDM design. 
  • Perform technical inspections of structures and other civil/structural elements of a project as required. 
  • Manage your time to ensure tasks and deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and per client requirements. 
  • Assist in the preparation of quotes. 
  • Maintain professional and reasonable conduct when representing the company. 
  • Any other duties assigned and required by the business. 

Skills and Knowledge Needed: 

This entry-level position provides day-to-day training, and formal training will be provided based on identified longer-term development needs. As a minimum, applicants are expected to have: 

  • Excellent maths and general numeracy skills, including trigonometry. 
  • 2D CAD skills. 
  • Ability to read and understand engineering plans, section details, and general arrangements. 
  • Advanced IT skills. 
  • A full clean UK driving licence.

IDH is seeking an experienced, skilled, and motivated Temporary Works Engineer to join our thriving team based in Maidstone/Bristol (or the surrounding areas). As a Temporary Works Design Engineer, you’ll have a key role in our dynamic team. You should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a design-focused position on UK construction projects and knowledge of temporary works and BS5975. This position is based at either our Maidstone head office or our Bristol office and offers an exciting career opportunity. About the Position: 

We are seeking an experienced Scaffold Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. As an Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the team. To be considered for this role, you must have at least 5 years of experience in a design-focused role on UK construction projects, with experience in TG20, BS5975, T&F, and system scaffold design. The role is remote, and you should be based within easy access to central London. This is an exciting opportunity that offers a stimulating career, providing a chance to work on a variety of projects and develop innovative engineering solutions for our clients. 

Your Responsibilities: 

  • Manage & coordinate the progress of the design through the offices communicating with the customer. 
  • Be able to work autonomously and produce designs & technical drawings using CAD and analysis software.

  • Maintain high-quality of visual presentation for all designs.

Business Support Co-Ordinator

We’re seeking an enthusiastic Business Support Co-Ordinator to be based in either our Bristol or Maidstone office. You could be a Business or Finance graduate who is keen to learn and develop within the company, or you could have recent experience in business and finance roles that you’re looking to use elsewhere. Senior Design Engineer – Civil or Structural

We are currently looking to recruit Senior (civil or structural) engineers to operate from our offices in Maidstone, Bristol, Manchester, Poland, Ireland, Bahrain and/or remote working opportunities. We are specifically looking for an individual with at least 5+ years’ experience working in the industry, ideally someone with a strong background in steelwork, and a good understanding of temporary works.

The role will involve developing and guiding our team with direct contribution at board level for business development as well as checking, mentoring, developing customers and design. The right individual will be able to demonstrate comprehensive design and structural engineering knowledge with strong analysis and engineering skills. The roles are UK based but you may be required to work for periods of time at our European offices.

Salary is negotiable and dependent on experience, plus company benefits and bonus scheme.
