Scaffold Designer

Due to continued growth, we are now recruiting for a further Scaffold Designer to join our ever-growing scaffold team in Maidstone, Bristol, Manchester, Poland, Ireland, Bahrain and/or remote working opportunities. Ideally, we are looking for a candidate with some scaffold design experience, but we will also consider graduate applications.

Skills required:

  • An engineering degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Excellent maths and general numeracy skills, including trigonometry
  • 2D AutoCAD skills
  • 3D draughting / modelling knowledge a bonus
  • Knowledge of scaffold systems advantageous
  • Ability to read and understand engineering plans, section details and general arrangements
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Advanced IT skills

The role:

You will produce designs and technical drawings using AutoCAD and analysis software. You’ll also prepare scheme layout technical drawings and supporting calculations and analysis in a timely, clear and concise manner to enable our clients to understand how to erect and safely the use the equipment.

Your other responsibilities will include:

  • Using analysis software and AutoCAD LT (2D) to determine arrangements and solutions applicable to customer requirements.
  • Dependent on experience, you may be required to visit sites and prepare clear and accurate site surveys of existing arrangements and assist in developing solutions which incorporate this detail.
  • Detailing requirements typically include a combination of plans, sections, elevations and notes / details to ensure the customer and IDH fulfil their moral and legal responsibilities as a designer to ensure the safe use of equipment.
  • Working effectively and independently often on multiple projects for a team under frequent pressure of tight deadlines.
  • Being keen and willing to learn new skills, as well as becoming familiar with technical documents and standards on scaffold design.

Senior Temporary Works Engineer

Senior Temporary Works Engineer

Due to our expansion IDH is currently looking to recruit a Senior Temporary Works Engineer to work from our offices in Maidstone, Bristol, Manchester, Poland, Ireland, Bahrain and/or remote working opportunities. We are specifically looking for an individual with at least 10 years’ experience in hands-on temporary works design practice.

The role will involve developing and guiding our team with direct contribution at board level for business development as well as checking, mentoring, developing customers and design. The right individual will be able to demonstrate comprehensive temporary works design and structural engineering knowledge with strong analysis and engineering skills. The role is UK based but you may be required to work for periods of time at our European offices.

Due to the seniority of this role, salary is negotiable and dependent on experience plus company benefits and bonus scheme.

Apprentice

Apprentice

We have a fantastic opportunity to start a career in engineering in the construction industry as part of the IDH team in our Bristol office. This is an apprenticeship role where you will gain a recognised Level 3 qualification and learn the key skills required to become a design engineer.

The role will involve:

  • Produce safe, practical and economic temporary works designs under the guidance of an engineer.
  • Prepare material schedules for designs where required.
  • Assist with producing design submissions for customers within a document control process.
  • Liaise with colleagues within IDH, engineers, management and admin.
  • Co-ordinate design requests with customers.
  • Assist with the production of quotes and develop a commercial understanding of the business.
  • Produce and maintain a personal time sheet.

We are currently looking to recruit Senior (civil or structural) engineers to operate from our offices in Maidstone, Bristol, Manchester, Poland, Ireland, Bahrain and/or remote working opportunities. We are specifically looking for an individual with at least 5+ years’ experience working in the industry, ideally someone with a strong background in steelwork, and a good understanding of temporary works.

Temporary Works Engineer

An opportunity has arisen for a Temporary Works Design Engineer to join one of our busy teams in Maidstone, Bristol, Manchester, Poland, Ireland, Bahrain and/or remote working opportunities.  Ideally the successful candidate will be experienced in Structural Design and/or Temporary Works Design, and preferably would have direct experience of having worked on site in an engineering role.

As the successful candidate, you will use your experience in direct contact with our customers on site providing them with concept solutions and guidance. After initial consultation you will be required to develop a safe, practicable and efficient working design in accordance with the customer requirements and meeting all statutory obligations.

The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate intuitive solutions for a wide range of problems, have comprehensive knowledge of the construction process in a number of materials, be able to clearly communicate the construction sequence involved in the design and undertake design analysis to support their approach.
