Tekla Draughting at IDH Poland

Brian Wood, our Tekla Draughting expert at IDH Poland joined us with an impressive:
- 38 years of drawing office experience,
- 28 years of CAD software experience (including Tekla Structures),
- 14 years of project management.
Brian’s experience with CAD software
“From starting my apprenticeship almost 40 years ago with paper and pen on the board, I have witnessed the birth and growth of CAD software in our industry and the incredible improvements and benefits that it has brought to the design and detailing of steel structures. These technological advances have enabled designers and detailers to implement the increasingly challenging demands made on them by today’s architectural concepts. These ideas would have been impossible to realise even just a few decades ago.” Brian explains.
Brian has gained experience worldwide, working on projects in the UK, Ireland, Australia, China, and now Poland. He has overseen teams of modellers and editors on a variety of different sized projects ranging from 100-2000 tonnes. He holds in-depth knowledge of steel design as well as the creation of 3D models using Tekla Structures. More junior colleagues have also appreciated being trained in modelling support and shop detailing that Brian has provided.
Using Tekla Structures at IDH
Brian currently leads our Tekla draughting team in Poland, co-ordinating both architectural and engineering schemes to provide steel detailing for commercial, industrial, residential and transport sectors:
“One project recently completed at IDH, involved complex curved and sloping geometrical shapes with thousands of individual plates. Tekla Structures was able to deal with this with ease, enabling the creation of shop details and NC files which are invaluable to the fabricator.”
At IDH, our team draw on many years of expertise in the steelwork industry. Using our structural steelwork design competency, we can produce detailed fabrication and erection design drawings to Eurocodes using AutoCAD as well as Tekla Structures 3D modelling software.
